They Might Be Giants / Vandaveer – Madison Theatre

They Might Be Giants brought their whimsical brand of of rock to the Madison Theater in Covington, KY on March 3rd.  In support of them was indie rockers Vandaveer.  Vandaveer took the stage as a trio of Mark Charles Heidinger on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Tom Hnatow on electric guitar and Rosie Guerin on vocals.  The nearly full room gave them respectful attention as Heidinger’s soaring vocals blended with the sweet harmonies of Guerin.  It was a solid set, but a bit of a strange choice of opener for a pop band like TMBG.  They Might Be Giants came out to an anxious applause and the lights came up with minimal light on the stage and moving lights filling the room.  It was an energetic set filled with decades of fan favorites and selections from their newest album.
