MusicNOW Festival 2014

MusicNOW is an incredibly unique event that takes place every year in Cincinnati, OH that offers an alternative to the big budget summer festivals.  The festival focuses on stretching the boundaries of music through interesting collaborations and original works.  Last year was my first year attending and photographing and it was one of the highlights of 2013 for me.  This year’s festival was a bit different in that it centered more on classical music with a bit of indie rock and folk sprinkled in for taste.  I had the opportunity to interview festival founder Bryce Dessner (of The National) for Cincymusic.com a few weeks before the show (link) and was extremely excited for this year’s event.  Along with Bryce and twin brother Aaron (also of The National) there were performances from local band Little Lights, collaborations with the CSO, a performance by Bonnie Prince Billy, never before performed works by composer Nico Muhly, a surprise performance from the Dessner brothers joined by Bryan Devendorf (drummer, The National) and much more.  It was a beautiful two nights, as always.
